14ème congrès International Terroir et le 2ème symposium ClimWine
Edito
Dear Colleagues,
Terroir and climate are major drivers of wine quality. In addition, climate can be an important component of terroir. Terroir is a complex concept and climate change is currently challenging our understanding its relationship with wine quality and marketing.
Every two years since 1996, the International Terroir congress has brought together scientists from all over the world working on viticultural terroirs, studying the physical, biological and human components, and their links with wine quality. ClimWine was organized for the first time in 2016 with its main focus on climate change impacts and adaptation strategies, covering topics from climate prediction to socio-economic considerations.
In that context, we are happy to announce that the 14th International Terroir congress and the 2nd ClimWine symposium will be organized jointly in Bordeaux from the 3 to 8 July 2022. It will represent a unique opportunity for scientists working on these topics to meet physically (we hope), present and discuss about their latest results, discover Bordeaux terroirs, meet members of the industry, taste famous wines (and food), and last but not least, enjoy friendly moments with colleagues. The staff of the Ecophysiology and Functional Genomics of Grapevine laboratory, from the Institute of Vine & Wine Science of Bordeaux, will be delighted to welcome you for a great scientific and social program.
The conferences will take place at the "Agora du Haut Carré" in Talence, a neighbouring city of Bordeaux, and can be reached in less than 15 min by public transport from Bordeaux downtown.
For this congress, we have established a partnership with the International Viticulture and Enology Society (IVES), with the proceedings published through the IVES Conference Series and a selection of articles published in a special issue of OENO One. In order to release the proceedings and the special issue of OENO One before the beginning of the symposium, we ask you to submit your abstract before the 15th October 2021 and full text before the end of February 2022.
So, we are looking forward to your abstract and to welcome you in Bordeaux in July 2022.
The conveners,
Nathalie Ollat, Jean-Philippe Roby and Kees van Leeuwen
