Full Professor in Food Engineering/Enology. Degree in Agro-Industrial Engineering from the School of Agriculture (ISA)/Technical University of Lisbon (1986), PhD in “Sciences Agroalimentaires” from the ENS Agronomique de Montpellier (1992), Habilitation in Agro-Industrial Engineering, ISA, Technical University of Lisbon (2001).He taught several courses including Winemaking, Grape and Wine Chemical Composition and Sensory Analysis, Fortified Wines, Grape and Wine Derived Products and By-products. Coordinator of the PhD in Food Science and Engineering at ISA (ULisboa); Coordinator of the Vinifera EuroMaster in Portugal. Coordinator of the Master in Viticulture and Enology Engineering at ISA/ULisboa (2005-2018). , President of the Portuguese Oenologists Association (2010-2012). Research interests are the grape and wine phenolic compounds in respect to the ageing of wines and wine technology, new oenological practices like wood alternatives, viticulture practices effects.
