It aims to bridge pure and applied sciences, thus bringing research into application in the field for the benefit of consumers, growers, advisors and the public sector. The UGM currently employs a staff of about 390 people, including scientists, technical and administrative personel. The UGM is financed by the Hessian State Ministry for Science and Art. Approximately 1200 students are supervised in lectures and practical courses in the field of viticulture and oenology, beverage research, horticulture and landscape architecture.
