Wine sector survey launched in the EU project ASPECT

Extreme weather events are already affecting vineyards across Europe, causing substantial economic losses. However, user-oriented climate information tools that support decision-making across multiple time horizons remain limited. The European project ASPECT aims to bridge this gap by providing science-based, practical information to help wine sector users adapt to a changing climate.
For this purpose, climate scientists at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) have co-developed a short bulletin together with our Super User (Codorniu, based in Catalonia) for people working in the wine sector. It provides a quick and easy way for you to explore new technologies and presentation formats for seasonal and decadal climate predictions. It currently features two key indicators, frost days and growing degree days, which will be expanded and refined over the coming year. ASPECT researchers from the University of Leeds are testing the upscaling potential of this early-stage prototype. Your answers and feedback will help improve the provision of climate information for the wine sector, and ultimately make Europe more resilient to climate variability and change
The survey takes approximately 25 minutes to complete and is aimed at people in the wine sector, and who have either used or could potentially use weather/climate information.
